Discussion of Issues in Application of SPD

Abstract:We discuss the problems with the application of the surge protection device(SPD)as well as some issues causing disputes in its application.Our emphasis is laid on discussing such issues as the response time to SPD,multilevel SPD acting sequence,equivalent commutation of different waveform impact currents,relationships between SPD’s residual voltage and impact current peak values,as well as inter-relations among capacities of different voltages in the application of SPD as a reference for de-singers,operators and maintenance personnel of the related systems.
